Mel Gets Married: I'm Engaged!

From the time that most women are little girls, they start planning (well, more like dreaming) for their wedding days. As cliché and stereotypical as this sounds, we women all know in the cockles of our hearts that this statement is true....read more...

My Health Guru Calley,

Hello, I always seem so down and have no energy. It’s hard to get out of bed in the morning. I have no time (and extra funds), for a gym. Can you recommend a few stretches or exercises that can give me a boost in the morning? Hitting the snooze button just isn’t cutting it.

Bushwick Beer Garden: Season 2 is Here!

enterLast week was a tad bit  dreary but the Bushwick Beer Garden has turned that around with the opening of Season 2!

After a groundbreaking Season 1, you might find proprietors Paul Nicholson and Jan VanDamme hard pressed to beat it. That could not be further from the truth! The boys have been hard at work ever since the ground thawed and we here at EGS were granted a sneak preview of just what has gone underway. The trusty bar the “Giraffes Knuckle” has been improved upon greatly, and now includes pointed lattice structures towering above. The new standalone trellis will hold the flourishing hops vines when they grow this summer. The morning glories have already begun to wind their way upward around the pergola structure. The space has been utilized to the utmost and is more user friendly overall. Additional improvements include with more table room, new grilling tools and is that a chandelier?! My personal favorite wing is that which contains the new dart lounge complete with hammocks. The BBG will be open once again as a part of the annual Bushwick Open Studios. Also be on the lookout for  an Art Gallery party which is in the works for later in the summer, and specialty menu items will also make an appearance throughout the season on the grill. Rumor has it EGS may even host an event here!

dartTo learn more about the Bushwick Beer Garden and for event invitations and venue information be sure to join their Yahoo Group. The place is also a great spot for hosting your small event so contact the boys for more info.

Now with Season 2 officially underway, we will keep you informed on the latest. Keep checking back with us or www.BushwickBeerGarden.com for additional info as it is unveiled. So for those of you that still find the BBG a secret, come on by and be ready to make some new friends. Don’t forget to bring something to fill one of the plentiful frosty mugs. To those of you who have been in attendance, the many new additions are some damn good reasons come revisit the garden (hell, you probably don’t remember much from last time anyway!)

…is one of Brooklyn’s intentionally best-kept secrets…for the most unusual drinking experience around, this is the place.
