Mel Gets Married: I'm Engaged!

From the time that most women are little girls, they start planning (well, more like dreaming) for their wedding days. As cliché and stereotypical as this sounds, we women all know in the cockles of our hearts that this statement is true....read more...

Ok we all have our vices, so please help. I need to clean up my body. If you could recommend quitting smoking or drinking, which do you think would be most beneficial to me?

My Health Guru Calley,

Hello, I always seem so down and have no energy. It’s hard to get out of bed in the morning. I have no time (and extra funds), for a gym. Can you recommend a few stretches or exercises that can give me a boost in the morning? Hitting the snooze button just isn’t cutting it.

Scones: No longer just a boring British Breakfast

My friends have a Beer Garden in their backyard. While you may have noticed that it IS a German Beer Garden, they did crank some English specialities out of their kitchen this year. Seeing that I was following the lead of a Shepherds Pie, it only seemed natural that I come up with something else [...]

Puss Cake

NYC Cake and Baking Supply is my new favorite store. I can go in there and happily spend an hour. I do not get depressed by the fact I no longer fit in a size 6, inside these walls I do not need to impress anyone. There is always a jolly gay man looking for [...]

Summer Parties: Small Sammies and Several Options

The 4th of July means getting together with friends or family, partying and generally eating a lot. It is a time to prove your independence in the kitchen and prove to America that you can cook (or at least know how to party). Any reunion I am involved in generally tends to revolve around what’s [...]

Fish Fry and Strawberry Margarita Salsa

A lady always needs some fool proof, quick, easy recipes to fall back on. Whether eating alone (something us single girls do get accustomed to), or cooking for friends, families, or dates. I have had not a minute to spare this past weekend, due to my marathon study sessions for next weeks exams, and trying [...]

Bacon Vodka: The Swine Shot to get this Summer

I tried Bacon Vodka for the first time last summer. Before this I had only heard of its myth. However one fated day I sat in a bar in Philly, and there it was behind the bar. A foot long cylinder in which several strips of bacon had settled to the bottom of the murky [...]

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Sometimes I get a surprise. Last week I got a hell of one when EGS gained access to the new Yankee Stadium. I may not be that much of a sports fan, but some things I do love are luxury, attention and food. ESPECIALLY free food that comes with the seats in the Legends Suite.
After entering the double [...]

So…. Finally P&G, formerly the UWS local hangout @ 73rd & Amsterdam, famous for it’s glowing sign that reads “Cafe Bar” as seen in various films and TV shows, such as Seinfeld, has reopened. To this writers delight, it is now located on 78th and Columbus in a huge basement spot across from the Museum [...]

Bushwick the Board Game

You have been priced out of your loft in Williamsburg and are now forced to move to, gasp! Bushwick. Yes, that is right, welcome to Bushwick the Board Game!
I have known the genius of JanVandamme for many years. His production company, NullSet Films has  evolved into a full-blown empire, with the creation of NullSet Games and its inaugural [...]

Bushwick Beer Garden: Season 2 is Here!

Last week was a tad bit  dreary but the Bushwick Beer Garden has turned that around with the opening of Season 2!
After a groundbreaking Season 1, you might find proprietors Paul Nicholson and Jan VanDamme hard pressed to beat it. That could not be further from the truth! The boys have been hard at work [...]
